Welcome
Welcome to California’s largest State Park! The 600,000 acres of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park provide Californians with a diverse refuge, protected forever. The Park protects vast landscapes for solitude and human exploration and holds vital habitats for thousands of species of native plants and animals. One fifth of San Diego County is held in trust within the Park’s boundaries.

The Anza-Borrego Foundation and Institute has been partners with Anza-Borrego Desert State Park since 1967. It is the only cooperating association directly supporting the Park. More than 42,000 acres of private lands have been acquired by the Foundation for the Park. The Foundation handles sales of interpretive and educational items at the Visitor Center, providing financial support back to the Park. Thousands of visitors get the opportunity to participate in “citizen science,” see behind the scenes of paleontology, archeology, geology, bighorn sheep research, mountain lion telemetry and discover the wonders of the night sky.

Partnerships make Anza-Borrego one of the finest protected areas in the world. With your help and interest, this Park will be here for your grandchildren and great-grandchildren, just as it is for you today! Please enjoy your State Park, and become one of our partners in loving and caring for this enduring 600,000 acre treasure.
