38TH ANNUAL SHEEP COUNT
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
Department of Parks and Recreation
July 4-6, 2008

The 38th Annual Sheep Count was a great success. We saw lots of bighorn and all counters returned safely. The weather was hot and perfect for sheep counting, but unfortunately for us the humidity arrived early.

Thanks to all of you for your dedication to the bighorn and to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. You all do so much and travel so far!

A huge thank you to Nancy Estes for donating all the cold sodas and bottled water! We are also thankful to Anza-Borrego Foundation and Institute for sponsorship of this important annual census, and for the beautiful Anza-Borrego book by Ernie Cowan, provided to each sheep count volunteer.

We hope to see you next year for another successful sheep count!
